Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director
Jonathan Siegler is a Managing Director and the Chief Financial Officer of Bluescape Energy Partners, Parallel Resource Partners, and Bluescape Resources Company. Siegler is responsible for driving performance management, strategy, investment decision making, and transaction execution across portfolio investments. Siegler is also responsible for overseeing back-office processes and for financial reporting. Siegler serves on the Investment Committee, Valuation Committee, and Risk Committee of Parallel and on the Boards of certain of its portfolio companies. Siegler also serves on the Board of Managers for Bluescape and certain of its investments.
On behalf of Bluescape, Siegler led the greenfield effort to build positons in the Marcellus and the Eagle Ford, led the sale of Marcellus Minerals to multiple counterparties, negotiated the Marcellus JV with Oxy USA, and originated and executed structured loan transactions with Jayhawk and Greyhey. As a Managing Director and CFO, Siegler has been a key part of a team that has executed fifteen investments totaling $1.0 billion of risk capital and achieved a 25% IRR, 1.6X MOIC gross with a .9X cash realization and beat the small cap public E&P basket by 5X. The returns were achieved during a period when natural gas declined from over $13/MMBtu to less than $2/MMBtu and crude oil declined from over $130/Bbl. to under $40/Bbl. Siegler led the negotiation and execution of more than 50% of the capital deployment and approximately 80% of the realizations.
Siegler was formerly Senior Vice President of Strategy and M&A at TXU Corp. Siegler helped to architect the turnaround plans that drove over 65% annual returns and $32 billion of shareholder value. He helped to ensure the competitive market was maintained in Texas, designed TXU’s new build generation strategy and helped lead the sale of TXU to an investment group led by affiliates of KKR, TPG, and Goldman Sachs. Prior to TXU, Siegler was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company leading strategy, finance, and operations work across the energy/industrial sector. Siegler led strategic turnaround work at both E&P and power companies and led operational turnaround work at coal- fired power plants. Prior to that, Siegler served as a lieutenant aboard the nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735B), qualifying as a naval nuclear engineer, and receiving three Navy and Marine Corps achievement medals for superior service.
Siegler earned a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated with distinction, and a master’s in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
